The Story
After I’d been creating various dog breeds for a while, I started playing around with an idea for a sheep and my “Got Sheep” design. Then it occurred to me that I could combine the sheep with the illustrations I’d created for herding breeds to make a fun design for herding dogs. And thus began the surprisingly popular “In the Sheep” series.
The Malinois is a the Belgian shepherd with a smooth coat, supposedly the original form of the this sheepdog. There are two long-haired versions of the shepherd—the Belgian Tervuren, with a two-toned coat, and the Belgian Shepherd (aka Groenendael), with a solid black coat—and another short-haired version—the Belgian Laekenois, with a short, wiry coat.
