After I’d been creating various dog breeds for a while, I started playing around with an idea for a sheep and my “Got Sheep” design. Then it occurred to me that I could combine the sheep with the illustrations I’d created for herding breeds to make a fun design for herding dogs. And thus began the surprisingly popular “In the Sheep” series.

The Briard is a large, French sheepdog named after the province of Brie. An amiable, affectionate, and highly trainable dog, the Briard is also fiercely protective of its flock, making it not only an excellent herding dog, but also a good guard dog.

This design features a Briard sitting amidst a flock of fluffy, white sheep. It is available on a multitude of products—apparel, mugs, mousepads, tote bags, cards, stickers, magnets—even Keds’ sneakers.
